Del Mar is where “the surf meets the turf,” a pristine coastal town with both breathtaking canyons and perfect beaches. Meaning “by the sea” in Spanish, Del Mar is home to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, where every summer the San Diego County Fair attracts visitors from all over the state and country. The turf refers to racing and thoroughbreds, a main attraction for equestrian enthusiasts.

The city is also home to The Del Mar Plaza, three levels of unique shopping that offers everything from jewelry to art to home furnishings and more. Del Mar is home to the Torrey Pine, among the rarest trees in the United States, and namesake to the annual golf tournament held each February.
