Rancho Santa Fe is known for its horses. Some of the finest horse trainers in the country live here and the area was the site for the equestrian events during the 1984 Olympics.
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club offers over 40 days of exciting horse racing each season. The 2007 season begins on July 18 and finishes on September 5. The $1 million dollar Pacific Classic race will be held on August 19. Racing is available daily, except Tuesdays when the track is dark.
The San Diego Polo Club has one of the longest playing seasons in the country. From May through October, polo matches are presented to the public every Sunday, beginning at 1:30 pm. The matches feature some of the world's finest players and horses in the sport of polo. Pre-game events including picnics, polo demonstrations, children's activities, and complete food and beverage service, round off the day's fun. The arena school program operates year 'round with all levels of polo instruction from beginner to expert.
Del Mar Horsepark is a 65-acre world-class equestrian facility located about 3.5 miles West of The Villas and is host to the Del Mar National Horse Show each year in April and May.
